From installation to your first exported clip. Your media processing happens on your computer by default.

1. Install ClipForge

Get the installer for your computer from the ClipForge download page. Windows uses a signed per-user installer; macOS uses a notarized disk image for Apple silicon. Keep the installer from an official ClipForge link and verify its published SHA-256 checksum if you need to confirm the file.

On Windows, run the setup file and open ClipForge from the Start menu. On Mac, open the disk image, copy ClipForge into Applications, then open it. You do not need to install Python, FFmpeg, Docker, WSL, or a separate app runtime.

2. Activate your license

Open Settings → License, paste the access key sent after your purchase, and choose Activate. If you received a ClipForge license file instead, use Import license. The license status in Settings shows your plan. Keep your key private and do not include it in support screenshots.

Need another copy of your key? Open the purchase page, expand Already own ClipForge? Recover your access key, and enter your purchase email. The recovery link is single-use and expires; it is for existing owners, not required before buying.

3. Create clips

Open Create. Choose a video file or paste a supported YouTube link that you are allowed to use. Open Video settings and choose one of four export presets:

  • Best moments finds highlight candidates for review.
  • Full video · minutes exports the entire source as consecutive clips of the chosen minute length.
  • Full video · seconds does the same using a chosen number of seconds.
  • Fully custom lets you enter each clip's start and end time; gaps and overlaps are allowed.

Choose your quality, framing, and captions, then start the project. The progress area shows the current stage. Processing time depends on the source and your computer.

4. Preview and export

Completed jobs appear in Projects. Open a clip with Preview, check its timing and captions, then use Export or Export video to save it. Review every clip before sharing it; ClipForge does not publish a rendered clip without a separate approval action.

5. Settings and updates

Settings contains the license, processing mode, and export location. On a supported NVIDIA Windows PC, NVIDIA mode uses CUDA transcription and NVENC export; choose CPU mode explicitly if you want software processing. If explicit hardware mode is unavailable, ClipForge reports the failure instead of silently switching encoders.

Windows and Mac release files are signed. When a newer version is posted, close ClipForge and install it over the current version. Existing per-user projects and license data are designed to remain in place. Check the download page for the current version and checksum; do not use a third-party download.

6. Billing and recovery

Stripe hosts Checkout and annual subscription management. If you have an annual plan, use the Stripe Billing Portal link sent in your ClipForge email to view or cancel renewals. If the link is missing, contact billing support with your purchase email. The Refund and Cancellation Policy explains timing and eligibility. A lifetime license has no recurring renewal.

7. If something goes wrong

Engine disconnected

Close and reopen ClipForge. On Windows, you can also use Settings → Apply mode & restart engine. If NVIDIA mode fails, check that your NVIDIA driver supports your card; choose CPU mode explicitly if needed.

Import or export failed

Check that the video is readable, that you have enough free disk space, and that the export location is writable. Online video import can fail when a source site changes or restricts downloads. Try a local file you own to separate a source-site problem from media processing.

Key not accepted

Confirm that you entered the complete access key and that ClipForge can reach its licensing service for online activation. Use key recovery if you lost it; do not send a key or license file through ordinary email.

8. Contact support

[email protected]

Include your platform, ClipForge version, what you tried, and the exact error text. For billing, include the purchase email and approximate date. Do not send payment-card numbers, access keys, private files, or source media unless support explicitly arranges a secure method.
